Knitted from centre back this 2 skein shawl grows symmetrical around the centre back spine to its final shallow triangular shape. The shawl alternates between stockinette, garter and lace sections and finishes with the a lace border worked perpendicularly to the shawl edge live stitches.

Inspired by the by the gorgeous mustardy yellow colour of the yarn the name Solidago is the scientific name for ‘Goldenrod’.

Solidago is an entertaining knit, suitable for experienced knitters and advanced beginners who love a challenge.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Wingspan approx. 170cm / 67” (blocked).
Depth approx. 56cm / 22” (blocked).

YARN
2 skeins of Blackbeard fingering 4ply yarn 90% Polwarth wool, 10% silk (370m/405 yards per 100g) from Pirate Purl Yarns.
Colour used in sample is “Honey”.

Or if substituting yarn 740 m / 920 yards fingering weight yarn with similar gauge to achieve the size described.

GAUGE
Approximately 21 sts and 31-32 rows on 4.0 mm / US 6 / UK 8 in stockinette worked flat, washed, blocked and laid flat = 10x10cm / 4×4”.
If you want an even lighter fabric or a larger shawl you may choose to use larger needles.

NEEDLES & NOTIONS
4.0 mm / US 6 / UK 8 (or size required for gauge) circular needle at least 80cm / 32”
For border: 3.5 mm / US 4 circular needle at least 80 cm / 32”
1 stitch marker, blunt darning needle
