Lilly Shawl Pattern

My dear Mum turned 86 in March 2018 and I wanted to give her something special for her birthday.  

Her gift is this shawl and the pattern named after her – Lilly.  

Lilly is a beautiful crescent shaped shawl with a simple yet sophisticated structure in the main body, which is then intersected by colourful stripes and the shawl finishes off with a simple lace rippled edge and an i-cord bind off.  

If you like plenty of garter stitches, occasionally drop a stitch, and can count to 8, Lilly is the perfect project for you. Easy and fun to knit. Use your favourite colours and create your personal and unique Lilly.  

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 

Length approx. 200 cm / 78 inches (blocked) 

Depth: approx. 50 cm / 20” (blocked) 

NEEDLES & NOTIONS 

Size 3.25 mm / US size 3 needles 

Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain gauge. 

GAUGE 

24 sts and 28 rows = 10 / 4” in garter with single stranded yarn after blocking.  

YARN 

In total 250 g of lace weight yarn, approx. 100g = 700 m / 766 yds of Coast, 55 % wool, 45% cotton from Holst Garn, www.holstgarn.dk in colours suggested below.  

1. Fairy, 150 g (1050 m / 1150 yards) 

1. Charcoal, 25 g (175 m / 192 yards) 

1. Ecru, 25 g (175 m / 192 yards) 

1. Plum, 50 g (350 m /384 yards)
